Executive Housekeeper

A private Manhattan household seeks an experienced Executive Housekeeper to take full ownership of a modern, approximately 7,000-square-foot, single-level residence.
This hands-on role is ideal for a polished private-service professional who combines meticulous housekeeping with sound household oversight, initiative, discretion, and a calm, collaborative approach.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the residence to exceptional standards of cleanliness, organization, and presentation.
- Provide expert care for fine finishes and specialty surfaces, including wood, marble, glass, and delicate decorative pieces.
- Manage household laundry, linens, garment care, and weekly dry-cleaning services.
- Create and maintain efficient housekeeping schedules, including servicing private work areas at appropriate times.
- Oversee preventive maintenance, repairs, specialty vendors, and annual refinishing needs.
- Coordinate professionally with the part-time housekeeper, chef, pet-care providers, building maintenance, security, and other vendors.
- Coordinate care for one large senior dog; grooming, veterinary appointments, health monitoring, and coordination with pet-care professionals.
- Help organize and monitor specialty household assets, including a substantial wine collection.
- Anticipate needs, resolve issues independently, and present clear options to the principals when decisions are required.
- Support the continued development of household procedures and vendor records.
Qualifications
- Substantial Executive Housekeeper experience in a luxury private residence
- Strong knowledge of detailed housekeeping, fine-surface care, laundry, and wardrobe management.
- Highly organized, proactive, resourceful, and comfortable working with minimal supervision.
- Calm and composed under pressure, with high emotional intelligence and a respectful, non-confrontational style.
- Concise, precise communicator who provides timely updates without unnecessary escalation.
- Collaborative team player who works effectively with household staff, building teams, vendors, and diverse personalities.
- Discreet, trustworthy, detail-oriented.
- Comfortable working in a home with a medium to large dog.
- Excellent, verifiable references.
Schedule:
- Full-time, live-out position.
- Preferred hours: 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
- A 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. schedule may be considered.
- Schedule may be either Tuesday–Saturday or Sunday–Thursday
- To provide full weekend coverage alongside another team member.
- Evening requests are very rare as the family uses caterers when they entertain.
- Travel is not required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation of approximately $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience
